Life is Beautiful

I had the singular pleasure of seeing Amy Correia last night at Whitaker Center in Harrisburg. A more charming and down-to-earth soul you will not find in music today. There were less than 40 people, but we were all enjoying every minute of her performance. She kept saying 'what should I play next?' and thankfully took my suggestion of "Life is Beautiful."

Here is a sampler that includes some of the songs she played last night. If you've never heard Amy before, give her a listen - she has a very distinct voice that really grows on you with repeated listens. This was the second time I've seen her perform live and I plan to see her again.

Listen to Amy Correia Sampler

* "Dollar Lake"
* "The Bike"
* "Beutiful/Ugly"
* "Coney Island, USA"
* "Life Is Beautiful"
* "59th Street"
* "Lakeville"
* "Carnival"
* "Hold On"
* "Blind River Boy"

Somewhere Only We Know

Just noticed that a "Rolling Stone Original" from Keane was added recently. Hopes and Fears was a very fresh treatment of Brit Pop/Rock/Whatever, and hearing these songs in an all-acoustic setting gives them new life. No guitars make for a light and airy sound.

* "Everybody's Changing"
* "This Is The Last Time"
* "We Might As Well Be Strangers"
* "Somewhere Only We Know"
* "Bedshaped"

New Wave Ken!

With all this posting about new music, it's time to take a step back and see what got us here. Although most of this music is just before my time, it doesn't mean I can't be nostalgic for it. The simplicity of New Wave was part of its mass appeal - can you think of a more accessible genre? How many clubs in your town have 80's dance parties every week? Yeah, that's what I thought.

To go along with the lovely picture of New Wave Ken, how about a playlist chock-full of New Wave dance-able goodness? Come on, I just know you know all the words to 'Rio.' Click Ken to play.

P.S. Playlist in the comments - it's a big list!
